夢メッセのやきものフェアを見に、仙台港エリアに来ました。
仙台港というと、鉄鋼やビールの工場、変電所、フェリー、あと最近ではアウトレットなどなど
仙台有数の工業エリア。
震災のとき津波が来た場所の一つ。
I went to Sendai Port area, famous for factories of steel and beers, substation and new big outlet mall etc etc... one of the big industrial area in the city.
And it's also an area hit by the tsunami in March 2011.
震災発生後数日間、仙台港の石油コンビナートであった火災。
外に出る度、遠くで煙がもうもうと立ち上っていて、
そこに救助ヘリが続々入っていく様子、今でもはっきり覚えてます。
A few days after the disaster, there was a big fire at the petrochemical complex.
I remember when I was waiting in line for hours to buy foods at the supermarket,
I could see the huge smoke in the east sky.
And also when I was on the top of the hill I saw many helicopters went into it.
今回立ち寄った夢メッセみやぎも津波で浸水しています。
確か、その日には「全国B級グルメフェア」的なイベントが開催される予定だったはず。
震災後しばらくは、絵本の輸送基地か何かになってた。
この前行ったときには、もう普通にイベントができる位に復旧していました。
By the way, this day I went to the pottery fair which was held in this area.
The building was hit by the tsunami but now it's alright.
Even I couldn't imagine tsunami arrived here!
Although outside the building, rusty broken poles were left everywhere.
フェリーの汽笛の方向へ歩いている途中、左ハンドルのトヨタ車の車列。
I walked toward the steam-whistle and found the lines of brand new TOYOTAs for export.
名古屋か苫小牧行きの大きなフェリー。
ふと、先日読んだアイスランドのサガを思い出しました。
アイスランド出身のヴァイキングたちが、海を越えグリーンランドに植民し、
さらに海を越え「ヴィンランド」を「発見」し、そこで先住民にも遭遇する...という千年前の記録。
なんだかまたどこかへ旅行に行きたくなってきた。
As I was in front of the big ferry I remember about "the Vinland Sagas".
It's a record about the Icelandic Vikings colonized Greenland who continued sailing further west.
Finally they "found Vinland" and encountered the natives a thousand years ago!
And I felt like traveling somewhere again...
街中とは全く違うエネルギーを感じました。
Although the traces of the tsunami,
factories and trucks were moving endlessly.
